A coupon only saves you money when it applies to the order you actually want to place. Before focusing on the headline discount, check the products, spending requirements and final checkout total. This guide walks through the process from choosing an offer to confirming your savings.
1. Find the correct Store page
Start with our Stores directory and search for the merchant. Check the name and website carefully, especially when similar brands or regional stores appear. A promotion for one country’s website may not apply to another.
On the Store page, compare the available coupon codes and deals. A coupon usually requires a code at checkout. A deal may take you directly to a promotion without a code.
2. Read the conditions before opening the offer
Look for minimum spend, excluded products, new-customer requirements and any listed expiry date. If an offer is described as applying to selected items, do not assume it covers your entire basket. Read the merchant’s promotion terms when available.
- Does your order meet the eligible spending threshold?
- Are your chosen products included?
- Is the promotion limited to a location, account type or subscription?
- Can it be used with an existing sale or discount?
3. Reveal and copy the code
Click the coupon card outside its community verification panel. The merchant link opens in your current tab, while the Store page opens in a new tab with the code popup. In that Store tab, select Copy, then return to the merchant’s checkout. If your browser blocks the additional tab, allow it or reopen the Store page to access the code.
Copying helps avoid missing characters and unwanted spaces. Keep the Store tab available so you can return to the offer details if needed.
4. Apply it at checkout
Look for a field labelled “Promo code,” “Discount code,” “Coupon code” or a similar phrase. It may be inside a collapsible section of the order summary. Paste the code and select the merchant’s Apply button.
Wait for the checkout to update. A success message is useful, but the important check is whether the expected discount appears in the order summary.
5. Compare the final total
Review delivery charges, taxes and any other fees before paying. A larger advertised discount does not always produce a lower total. For example, an illustrative $10 discount with an $8 shipping charge saves less than $10 against a free-shipping alternative.
If the code fails, recheck the conditions before trying another offer. Avoid adding products you do not need just to reach a coupon threshold.
6. Share the result after testing
Return to the coupon, sign in and open its community reports panel. Select Yes if the code applied to your eligible order, or No if your attempt failed. Your result helps the next shopper interpret the code’s Health Score.
For an explanation of the labels and their limits, visit How we verify. The merchant’s checkout remains the final place to confirm your discount.
